HOLLYWOOD — A-list actor Tom Hanks is reportedly in talks to play the fatherly woodcarver, Geppetto, in Disney's live-action adaptation of the classic 1940 animated film "Pinocchio," according to Variety.
The famous children's story centers on a wooden puppet created by Geppetto named Pinocchio. Pinocchio, whose tendency to lie causes his nose to grow longer, dreams of becoming a real boy.
Paul King is directing the movie, with Andrew Miano and Chris Weitz producing, Variety reported.
Hanks already has a busy 2019 ahead, with a number of projects already scheduled, including the World War II film “Greyhound,” another installment of “Toy Story” and the project he’s currently filming about Mr. Rogers.

Several recent Disney live-action reboots have proven successful for the studio, including "Beauty and the Beast" and "Jungle Book," which grossed $1.2 billion and $966.5 million worldwide, respectively.
