SAN ANTONIO — Police said a 9-year-old San Antonio boy is safe after being abducted and almost transported to another city by a human trafficker.
The boy was kidnapped from the city's downtown area, WOAI-TV reported, though it's unclear when. Police were immediately notified and contacted the Department of Homeland Security.
San Antonio police officers followed several leads. They were eventually led around 12:30 a.m. to a car parked in a grocery store parking lot, where the child was found, WOAI-TV reported.
A man who was with the boy was arrested on charges of kidnapping and human trafficking. Police said they believe the boy was going to be trafficked in Laredo or Eagle Pass.
The boy wasn't seriously hurt.
Homeland Security is leading the investigation.
