"The Persied meteor shower is caused by debris from Comet Swift-Tuttle as it swings through the inner solar system and ejects a trail of dust and gravel along its orbit. When earth passes through the debris, specs of comet-stuff hit the atmosphere at 140,000 mph and disintegrate in flashes of light. Meteors from this comet are called Perseids because they seem to fly out of the constellation Perseus" - @nasa . This time of the year, despite the moon being at almost 89% brightness, LAs light pollution and flights hovering around, this composite shows the capture from 3.30 am to 5am atop Santa Monica Mountains just after moonset on Aug 12 2019. Was able to see approximately 40-50 meteors. The mountains were the best bet as visibility from lower altitude was was not possible due to cloud cover. If you see the mountain peaks closely we were literally over the clouds. Perseid Meteor Over the Austin Skyline (Selfie) I caught an amazing Perseid meteor burning up over the Austin, Texas skyline last night. Seeing a meteor over a city skyline is rare with the light pollution but now is the time as the Perseid peak the night of Aug 12-13. I was going call it a night when I stepped in front of the camera for a couple of shots and boom, suddenly there it was, flashing across the sky. Lijepo je primjenjivat statistiku u svakidašnjim aktivnostima. Na kraju shoota treba slikat tzv dark frames, nesto za kalibraciju sta ovisi o temperaturi senzora, i to traje jedno 7min. 7 min, dakle, nemogu uhvatit meteor I slikam ja vec > sat vremena isti kadar, nikak da dodje meteor, a imam jedan dobar od prije jedno 45min i zelim slikat te darkove dok se ne promjeni temp. Al nikak da dodje meteor, a znam da sto ga duze nema, to raste vjerojatnost da se pojavi. I tak se dvoumim, ocu odustat il cekat jos, i skooooro sam odusto, al zbog znanja statistike odlučio pričekati još malo I sure enough, ubrzo je ovaj demon uletio, i ja presretan sta me spasila statistika, odradio sam te darkove. Znajući da je šansa opetovane pojave meteora drastično pala. A skoro sam odustao.
