SAN FRANCISCO — A man dropped a 4-month-old Chihuahua-mix puppy down a three-story trash chute, where it remained for four days before it was found dehydrated and with a broken leg that required amputation.
San Francisco Animal Care and Control found the puppy they named Rocky on Feb. 25 in an apartment complex trash bin, suffering from dehydration and a broken leg, KRON reported.
Using surveillance video, investigators identified the suspect as Ronald Louis Jones, KRON reported. Jones, 59, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty, KRON reported.
Because of the severity of the break, Rocky’s leg had to be amputated. Rocky is recovering in foster care, but one of the investigators in the case is expected to adopt him.
OK, last Rocky post-- just too cute not to share. Rocky's story clearly has a happy ending; if you would like to create a happy ending for one of the many critters in our care (whose stories didn't make the news) we're open until 5:30. 1200 16th Street #SanFrancisco pic.twitter.com/PCugautju6
