An amazing sight greeted Floridians on the northern east coast of the state.
The sky turned purple thanks to Hurricane Dorian.
Of course, those who got to experience the natural phenomenon took to social media to share the sight.

But what causes the natural version of mood lighting?
Science Daily calls it scattering. The microscopic stuff swirling in the atmosphere changes the direction of light rays and changes the light you see. All of it is determined by how big the particles in the air are and what wavelength you see.
