CHARLESTON, S.C. — Those following Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders’ campaign trail happenings may be wondering why he appeared at a Friday stop with a large, gauze bandage on his forehead.

The answer: That morning, he hit his head "on the edge of a glass shower door” at his Charelston hotel, his campaign staff said in a statement.

"Out of precaution, he went to a walk-in clinic to have it checked out," the statement said, the Post and Courier of Charleston reported.

“He received seven stitches and received a clean bill of health.”

The injury reportedly didn’t keep the 77-year-old senator from Vermont from any of his planned events in South Carolina. After suffering the wound, the campaign said Sanders attended a breakfast meeting with about 20 local clergy members.

Then, he participated in a panel with patients and health care experts at the International Longshoremen's Association Local 1422 union hall in Charleston. He did not address his injury during the event, CNN reported.

Sanders' next stop is Nevada, where he's expected to hold a rally Saturday afternoon in Henderson, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. Whether he'll still have the bandage remains to be seen.
