The victim was identified by Royal Bahamas Police Force Commissioner Paul Rolle as Jordan Lindsay, of Torrrance, according to news outlets.

Lindsay was attacked by three sharks just after 2 p.m. near Rose Island, where she was on a snorkeling expedition with her family, including her parents, Rolle told WPLG-TV.

Lindsay's family spotted the sharks and called out to her, but she didn't hear them, WPLG reported.
Her right arm was bitten off in the attack and she sustained bites on her arms, legs and buttocks, Rolle said.

She was rushed to a hospital in Nassau where she was pronounced dead, Reserve Superintendent Ronnie Bannister told CNN.

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism issued a statement on Lindsay's death offering its "condolences and deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of the victim."

Bahamian officials will perform an autopsy before Lindsay's body is transported back to California.
She was the only victim in the attack.
