BRAINTREE, Mass. — A popular parking lot for travelers and employees at Logan Airport has been hit - again.
For the second time this fall, thieves have targeted the Braintree Logan Express parking lot, taking advantage of the fact that many leave their cars in the lot for extended periods of time.
Early on Wednesday morning, the wheels of a Range Rover and a Honda were stolen, both tires and rims were stripped from the cars, which were left propped up on cement blocks.
"I’m sure you have to be a mechanic or you have to expert in it for you to be able to do it that quick," said Ola Oye, of Brockton.
State Police said they're increasing patrols in the lot, which is not just used by travelers but also by airport and airline employees.
"It’s very secure, I never thought it would happen here and who does that [so] quickly?" said Shawntae Grace, of Taunton.
Parts of the lot are secured behind a gate and cameras are placed across the area.
"It’s surprising to me because I haven’t heard anything like that before, this is public area and police come here all the time, I don’t see how that can happen here," said Oye.
Police are currently investigating the thefts and reviewing surveillance footage.
