Target is opening two small-format stores in the Boston area in 2018.
The company announced it will be opening a store in the Porter Square neighborhood in Cambridge and another in Burlington in October 2018. The two locations will be the sixth and seventh small-format stores in the area.
The small-format stores are typically placed near college campuses, dense suburban neighborhoods and urban areas where traditional-sized stores may not fit.
The Porter Square store will be located near the intersection of Massachusetts Ave. and Somerville Ave. and the Burlington store will be located on Route 3A just inside the I-95 loop. Both stores will employ about 75 people.
Target will also be opening a Roslindale store in March and a Medford store in July 2018.
