BROCKTON, Mass. — A Brockton man accused of hitting a pedestrian with his car and driving off last week was identified Tuesday morning.

Nilton Golcalves, 39, turned himself in to police over the weekend but his identity wasn't released until Tuesday when he was arrested.

Goncalves allegedly hit a 25-year-old man who was leaving a bar early Saturday morning and left the scene.

Sergio Licona was left in critical condition and died Monday as a result of his injuries.

In court Tuesday morning, Goncalves was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury and/or death and reckless operation of motor vehicle.

He was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail and must surrender his passport. He is not allowed to drive and is due back in court next month.
