Massachusetts State Police are investigating after a pedestrian was fatally struck in West Boylston on Route 190 on Sunday.
At about 2:20 a.m., troopers from the State Police-Holden Barracks responded to several reports of a pedestrian on Route 190. A few minutes after, another caller reported that the pedestrian had been struck.
According to the police report, a preliminary investigation identified a 19-year-old Leominster woman, Smarlyn Pamela Reyes, who lost control of her vehicle for reasons still under investigation. Her car went off of the left side of the road and rolled over into the median. She then climbed up 20 feet from the bottom of the median and began walking northbound on Route 190.
Police say Reyes was struck on the right travel lane by an unknown vehicle. The driver did not stop. She was struck again by a 40-year-old man driving a 2008 Mazda shortly after, who did stay on the scene.
Reyes died at the scene, according to State Police.
State Police are continuing to investigate all the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident, including the identity of the first vehicle that struck the woman. State Police were assisted on scene by West Boylston Fire and EMS, Massachusetts Department of Transportation, and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
No charges have been filed against the second driver at this time.
