BOSTON — Update: 5:51 a.m The MBTA says train service has resumed. Riders should expect residual delays.

Original post:

Shuttle buses will continue for Red Line service between Fields Corner and Broadway stations Thursday morning due to a late night electrical fire at Andrew Station.

Train service was suspended in both directions around midnight Wednesday night after a fire in the tunnel forced power to be cut. The MBTA said its power department has found five damaged cables in a manhole.

Red Line service between Fields Corner and Broadway is currently suspended and commuters should allow extra time this morning.

Shuttle buses will make stops at:

  • Fields Corner
  • Savin Hill
  • JFK/UMass
  • Andrew
  • Broadway

Customers traveling from Braintree and Quincy:

Red Line service will be available at all other stations.

An MBTA spokesperson did not give an estimate of when regular service would resume but said repairs are currently underway.

Riders took to Twitter during the incident, saying they saw smoke billowing out of the tunnel.

The incident happened right as Game 2 of the World Series wrapped up at Fenway Park with a Red Sox win.
