BRAINTREE, Mass. — The South Shore Plaza in Braintree packed with shoppers.
“There’s a lot of zigzagging thru the crowd. There’s a lot of people in there,” said Erica DaRosa from Braintree.
There’s just a week left to find that perfect Christmas gift and some people are just starting their search.
“No, I procrastinate. I always wait until the last minute,” said Kalene Bryant who is from Easton.
Others are halfway done. “I started to buy my stuff last week. And I started again because I’m not finished yet. I have to buy more stuff,” said Anna Filo from Braintree.
Many here tonight ahead of snow and rain expected Saturday.
“Oh no. I don’t have a problem at all,” said Filo who was nervously laughing at the prospect of shopping in bad weather.
And some shoppers saying that weather is enough to keep them home.
“No, nope I would have skipped that day,” said Bryant.
A spokesperson for Simon Malls says they’ll be ready to welcome everyone no matter what Mother Nature has in store.
“I think we’re really well prepared for a very successful 7 days until Christmas Eve,” said Jackie Fitzpatrick who is the Marketing Director for the South Shore Plaza.
And while online shopping keeps growing she says nothing beats the in person shopping experience.
“Being able to offer customers the chance to touch, try, buy and go home with the gift we are going to see a really successful holiday season,” said Fitzpatrick.
Bryant successfully fought the big crowds and she not only started but also finished her shopping.
“Oh, it’s packed. It’s packed but the stores that went to luckily weren’t too crazy,” said Bryant.
Simon Malls, including the South Shore Plaza, begin their extended hours for Christmas on Saturday. They’ll open earlier and close later. Check your local mall for their specific holiday hours.
