BOSTON - One man is dead and another is injured after a shooting in Dorchester Friday night.

Police responded to the shooting at around 6:50 p.m. in the area of Alexander Street and Bird Street.

Officers found two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in different locations, with one transported to a local hospital and the other pronounced dead on scene.

Police have identified the victim shot and killed as Gabriel Rodriguez, 22.

The other victim injured in the double shooting remains in critical condition.

The man killed was found shot on 11 Emerson Terrace, just around the corner from the initial scene.

Officers also reported finding evidence on Magnolia Street, as well as what could have been the shoes of one of the victims. Police say there are several streets involved in this investigation.

"It's fair to say that it took place over a wide area," Boston Police Superintendent-in-Chief Greg Long said. "But how it played out, we're just still working through that right now, because like I said, we're still talking to witnesses right now."
