SANDWICH, Mass. — A serious car crash near the Sagamore Bridge injured six people and snarled Friday traffic.

Mass. State Police told FOX25 a vehicle traveling on Route 6 westbound lost control and the vehicle rolled into the median, striking a tree. The car knocked the tree over and struck a vehicle traveling eastbound with five people inside.

The driver of that vehicle, a 35-year-old Pittsfield man, along with four passengers in their 30s and 40s were taken to Cape Cod Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the car that rolled into the median is a 26-year-old man from Fall River, police told FOX25. He was also taken to Cape Cod Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident affected traffic on both sides of Route 6, but all lanes have since reopened.
