SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The second suspect arrested for a grisly double murder in Peabody was arraigned Monday on a fugitive from justice charge in South Carolina then sent back to Massachusetts.
Wes Doughty, 39, was taken into custody Friday afternoon in Spartanburg, South Carolina, when he was spotted panhandling at a busy intersection.
Police said he also carjacked a man in Middleton last week before driving the stolen car to South Carolina.
Police said they located the vehicle, but it’s unclear when it will be returned to its owner.
Monday afternoon, Doughty was brought back to Massachusetts in police custody and is expected to be in court on Tuesday for his arraignment on the murder charges.
