On Friday, the Salvation Army showed off some of the items that were donated, including an 18-carat diamond ring, watches, pins and coins. Workers are processing these treasures for next month's online auction.
All of the money raised goes to the community in which the donation was made.
Since 2014, when the first piece of jewelry was dropped in a red kettle, the Salvation Army has raised more than $70,000 from proceeds of sales.
This $5,000 pin was one of many items of jewelry donated during @SalvationArmyMA holiday Red Kettle Campaign. Interested? They’ll be auctioned off in February. ✨ Story tonight on @boston25 #Boston25 #SalvationArmy pic.twitter.com/wzhSNMOU1Q
