SALEM, Mass. — The city of Salem is the latest in Massachusetts to drop its mask mandate. The Salem Board of Health voted unanimously to rescind its mask mandate, which was re-instated in December 2021.
Salem’s 2-week new case rate is down 84%, and there has been a 76% decrease in Covid patients at Salem Hospital on Tuesday from January 15.

The board says this recession of the order eliminates the requirement that masks be worn and proof of vaccination be shown in certain establishments; however, it emphasized that individual businesses are within their rights to establish their own safety requirements.
City health officials are still warning residents to remain vigilant, and encouraging people to get vaccinated and boosted to help curb the spread of Covid.
