A Revere woman was arrested after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, crashing her car and leaving a child behind at the scene, police said.
Massachusetts State Police said they responded to reports of a single-car crash on Route 16 near the Route 1 on-ramp in Revere around 12:05 a.m. Sunday.
Callers reporting the crash told police the driver had left the scene with a child in a bystander's vehicle.
Responding troopers determined a car had rolled over and come to rest in a ditch adjacent to Route 16, and witnesses said the car had three people inside: the driver and two children.
Witnesses said the driver, later identified as 37-year-old Cecilia Miranda, left the scene in a bystander's car with the younger of the two children, which was determined to be a 6-year-old boy.
In the process, the driver allegedly left a 10-year-old boy behind, and witnesses said another person stooped and took the 10-year-old in their car, reportedly to a local hospital.
Witnesses told police both children had severe injuries as a result of the crash.

Police later found both children and the driver, with Miranda and the 6-year-old located at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Miranda was placed under arrest, and the East Boston Neighborhood HealthCare Center told police that a 10-year-old was dropped off with severe injuries.
A trooper then went to the center and determined the child was the other involved in the crash, and the 10-year-old was then taken to Boston Children's Hospital because of the severity of his injuries.
Police said both of the children had severe injuries that weren't deemed to be life-threatening.
Meanwhile, Miranda was dealt a long list of charges, including operating under the influence of alcohol with serious bodily injury and negligent operation, two counts of child endangerment while operating under the influence, open container of alcohol, leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, abandoned motor vehicle, child under 8-years-old without a car seat, and a marked lanes violation.
She was bailed and released, and will be arraigned in Chelsea District Court Monday.
