Repair work on Sagamore Bridge expected to be done no later than May 4

Repair work on the Sagamore Bridge is nearly complete, according to the contractor working on the bridge.

R. Zoppo Corporation of Stoughton is expected to be off the bridge with all four travel lanes open no later than Friday, May 4, according to a Facebook post from the United States Army Corps of Engineers, New England.

The bridge is said to be 90 percent done, and the contractor is finishing the third and final stage of repairs, the group wrote.

Construction was originally started April 2, and drivers have had to deal with a lane closed on either side of the bridge for four weeks.

The construction was originally scheduled to be completed by May 23, and could be done nearly three weeks ahead of schedule.
