Recall alert: Power bank chargers recalled over fire risk

The recalled power banks were sold at Burlington, Kohl’s, Ross and other stores nationwide from November 2016 through January 2019 for about $25.

More than 170,000 rechargeable power banks for smartphones and tablets are being recalled due to a potential fire hazard.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Daniel M. Friedman & Associates has received three reports of the products overheating, including one where a house fire caused up to $150,000 in damage.

No injuries have been reported to date.

The recalled power banks came in a variety of colors and shapes, including a cat with sunglasses, a rainbow between two clouds, and a unicorn head. They were sold for about $25 at Burlington, Kohl's, Ross, and other stores nationwide from Nov. 2016 through Jan. 2019.

Consumers are advised to stop using the power banks and contact Daniel M. Friedman & Associates to arrange to return the product for a full refund.
