RAYNHAM, Mass. — A Raynham man has been arrested for allegedly driving under the influence for the fifth time after stealing a car and crashing into two grandmothers.
Police said 57-year-old Peter Trudeau was driving a black Taurus which belonged to another woman and he did not have permission to drive it.
According to officials, the Registry of Motor Vehicles revoked Trudeau's license for life back in 2006.
The crash happened Thursday afternoon at around 1:15 p.m. on Route 44 near the Route 24 north ramp.
Police say Trudeau first crashed into the car of a 67-year-old woman whose vehicle was then sent flying into 83-year-old Benvinda Fall's Chrysler. Trudeau reportedly got out of the car he was driving before taking off from the scene.
“He pushed my car like my car [felt like] someone pushed it," said Fall. “I ask, what happened? [and] he [said] 'I’m sorry, I’m sorry.'"
Boston 25 News spoke to Fall on Friday evening, who described feeling pain all over her body after the crash.
A witness at the scene took down Trudeau's license plate, which helped police catch up with him at a home less than two miles away, where the vehicle was registered. They found the car parked at a driveway on Church Street with front end damage and a deployed airbag.
"I think he came from far away [and] just 'bang', said Fall. "Maybe he was drunk, I don’t know."
Fall says she's in too much pain to be angry and is hoping medication and rest will help her heal.
The second victim, identified as 67-year-old Grace Levinson, also suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Trudeau is now facing his fifth drunken driving offense. He was arraigned in Taunton District Court Friday and is being held without bail until his next court appearance on Oct. 11.
