Quincy man arrested for impersonating woman online, soliciting violence

QUINCY, Mass. — A Quincy man was arrested Friday for allegedly impersonating a woman on an adult website and soliciting acts of rape, kidnapping, and assault, Mass. Attorney General Maura announced Friday.

"This is a deeply disturbing situation, in which the suspect allegedly stole the identity of one of our residents and attempted to use their identity to cause significant harm to this person," said Groveland Police Chief Robert J. Kirmelewicz.

Groveland Police, with the assistance of Quincy Police and State Police, determined Thomas Sheehan was impersonating a Groveland woman on an adult website, a AG office press release said. The statement added that Sheehan allegedly communicated with people who expressed an interest in stalking, kidnapping, raping and torturing the woman and her children.

Sheehan, age 45, of Quincy, was arrested Friday by Groveland Police on charges of solicitation to commit assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, solicitation to commit rape, solicitation to commit rape of a child and solicitation to commit kidnapping, according to the AG's office.

Sheehan is expected to be arraigned Tuesday morning in Haverhill District Court.
