Police: Tow truck driver showed up drunk to traffic stop

BARNSTABLE, Mass. — A traffic stop on Cape Cod led to the arrest of two suspected drunk drivers early Saturday, including the tow truck driver called to the scene.

Massachusetts State Police arrested Patricia O’Donnell, 51, of Marston Mills, for operating under the influence of liquor during a traffic stop around 2:30 a.m. Saturday on Route 28.

The trooper called Capeway Towing tow O’Donnell’s SUV.

Capeway Towing dispatched tow truck driver Brandon Fenton, 25, of Hyannis who too was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor.
A Hyannis News journalist was driving on Willow Street and Yarmouth Road when he saw the tow truck swerve over the solid white center lines and then off the right side of the road, almost hitting a pole. The journalist captured the tow truck's erratic driving on his dashcam. He followed the tow truck to the scene and showed the video to troopers.

Troopers arrested Fenton and charged him OUI liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and committing a marked lanes violation.

Both Fenton and O’Donnell were released on personal recognizance and arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Monday.

Capeway Towing sent Boston 25 News the following statement:

“Capeway towing has an ongoing commitment to safety and professionalism within our workplace; with that in mind I would like to address an incident that happened with an employee of Capeway towing very early [Saturday] morning.
