QUINCY, Mass. — Quincy Police are asking the public to help identify a suspect seen running after an attack. Two victims were just going to and from work when they were randomly attacked.
Ruthless and a coward is how this man is being described by authorities in Quincy.
Police are asking the public for help identifying him after they say he attacked and robbed two last Thursday.
“Random attacks, that’s scary,” said Brian Leahy from Quincy.
A witness took video with his cell phone right after an attack. The attacks happening near the North Quincy train station.
“You’re in a heavily populated area,” said Leahy.
“70-80-year-old people are just getting assaulted for no reason,” said Jeffrey Salzman, who lives in the area of the attacks.
The first victim attacked is a 69-year-old Asian man, who was going to work just before 5 a.m.
Quincy police said the suspect attacked him and stole his lunch bag.
It happened outside of 95 Squantum Street.
The victim remains hospitalized with several neck fractures.
Then, just before 10 p.m. on West Squantum and Division streets, a 55-year-old Asian woman was robbed.
A witness saw the attack, followed the suspect, and got her belongings back.
“I feel like, being a girl, always be with people, have someone with you,” said Kathryn Cowgill in Quincy.
For Salzman, he’s shocked this would happen in his quiet Quincy neighborhood.
“It’s a mixed breed. There’s a lot of walks of life over here. I picked Quincy because it’s unique. A lot of culture here, a melting pot,” said Salzman.
Police believe the same man is responsible for both attacks. They’re asking the public to please come forward with any tips. The female victim will be okay. As for the 69-year-old man, he remains in the hospital with serious injuries. Call Quincy Police with any information.
