Police said after the man allegedly took the pocketbook, he fled the scene in a silver Toyota Corolla.

Police released information about the suspect Tuesday, identifying him as Brasil and releasing a clear photo as they continued their search.

Brasil was later taken into custody Tuesday evening, according to Dartmouth Police.

“I think it’s tragic, something like this should never happen," Dartmouth resident Rick Teixeria said.  "Whatever he did to that person, someone should do to him, let him get a taste of it."

The incident took neighbors by surprise, and they said they don't see crime in the area often.

"I’m kind of shocked," Cecile Teixeria said. "I really am, because the neighbors are really very nice around here, we haven’t had any problems.”

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-10 white man with a stocky build, wearing a stocking cap, dark glasses and a dark jacket.

The woman only received minor injuries, and was evaluated on scene by EMS personnel.
