BROOKLINE, Mass. — A 20-year-old man is dead after being stabbed multiple times Tuesday morning in a Brookline park.
At 1:38 a.m., Brookline Police went to Amory Playground after learning of the assault. State Police assisted in the investigation on scene, collecting evidence and using search dogs. The playground covers more than 8 acres with walking paths, a few ball fields and tennis courts.
The victim, Nicholas "Cole" Kern, was rushed to Beth Israel Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Residents who frequent that park tell Boston 25 News they typically feel very safe there.
"I'm shocked, this is an incredibly safe neighborhood, this park is safe for everyone it always has been so this is a total shock," said Joseph Litvak.
Police say whoever is responsible for the stabbing is still at large.
Anyone with information should contact police.
