A woman was killed in a rollover car crash Friday night on Route 495 in Franklin, according to a release from the Massachusetts State Police.
The crash occurred at 8:05 p.m. on I-495 North between Exit 16 and 17. According to a preliminary investigation by police, the woman – who was driving a 2011 Subaru Forester – was traveling in the right lane at "a high rate of speed."
Then the Subaru veered into the middle lane before hitting a 2016 Toyota Rav 4. Police are still investigating what caused the driver of the Subaru to move into that lane.
After the contact with the Toyota, the Subaru then went out of control and went off the right side of I-495, rolling over and ejecting the woman during the crash.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene; her identity is not being released by police at this time.
The driver and two passengers of the Toyota were uninjured in the affair.
