Police investigate alleged incident involving Winthrop teacher, student

WINTHROP (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Winthrop school teacher is on administrative leave amid allegations of inappropriate conduct in the classroom.

Winthrop police say they were contacted last week about an incident that reportedly occurred at the Cummings Elementary School.

Investigators say one teacher told them a female teacher put adhesive tape on the eyebrows of an Autistic student and then ripped it off. According to a search warrant, the child reportedly yelled "ouch" when the tape was ripped off.

No charges have been filed in the investigation. The police chief says there may not be any criminal charges once the investigation is complete and they've gone through all of the evidence. At that point, the incident would be handled by school system administrators.
