PLEASE SHARE: Boston firefighter asking for help finding missing helmet

BOSTON — A Boston firefighter is asking for help finding his helmet.

The helmet of RESCUE 2 member Brian Mullen disappeared while he was working at a recent technical rescue operation in the Muddy River. The river is located on the Boston/Brookline line and empties into the Charles River in the Fenway neighborhood.

The helmet is unique as it’s made of real leather, has a crack in the "2" and a medal inside the helmet band.

“The helmet is very personal to every firefighter,” said the Boston Sparks Association. “It protects him or her from falling objects and could be a life saver when a firefighter needs to break a window and evacuate a room or building.”

The Boston Sparks Association is asking people to spread the word to everyone they know in the Kenmore Square, Fenway Park, Commonwealth Avenue and Longwood Medical areas.

The missing helmet can be left at any firehouse in Boston, Brookline or Cambridge.

“Your help will be appreciated by everyone who values the work of the firefighters in the Boston area,” said the Boston Sparks Association. “They are there whenever we need help, now they need us to help them.”

The Boston Sparks Association is a self-described fire buff club founded in 1938. The non-profit organization runs rehabilitation and canteen services for public safety agencies.
