BOSTON — A 59-year-old man was shot and killed inside a house on Devon Street, in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood, Friday morning, according to Boston police.
Police responded to reports of a shooting around 3:32 a.m. June 14 at an apartment at 107 Devon St., and found Arnold Woodrum suffering from gunshot wounds.
Woodrum was taken to a local hospital and Boston Police confirmed around 6:30 a.m. that he died from his injuries.
The area surrounding the red, three-story house on Devon Street was blocked off by crime scene tape early Friday as multiple Boston police detectives gathered evidence.
"It appears to be kind of a random shooting at this point...I'm waiting to get some feedback on what exactly the circumstances are," Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said Friday morning. "We're still under last year at this point, but as we always say: one homicide is too many."
Police have not released any information on a potential motive or suspects. The investigation is active and ongoing, police said.
Friday's deadly shooting is the city's 18th homicide of 2019.
Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to call Boston Police at (617) 343-4470 or reach out to their anonymous tip line at 1-800-494-TIPS.
