ROME — According to media reports, when actor James Gandolfini died in June 2013, an attending paramedic allegedly stole a $3,000 Rolex from the actor. Rumors had circulated that Gandolfini's watch was missing after he died, but it wasn't until Tuesday that fans were able to put a name to the suspect.
TMZ reported Tuesday that the trial of Claudio Bevilacqua began this week in Rome. Though it isn't clear whether Bevilacqua is believed to have stolen the watch off Gandolfini's body or out of his hotel room, fans of "The Sopranos" star quickly took to social media to express their horror.
"Paramedic accused of stealing James Gandolfini's Rolex as he lay dying. If it's true, it's disgusting," one fan writes.
