Original story:

One person died and three others were injured in a shooting in Lynn on Saturday night, State Police confirmed to Boston 25 News.

The incident happened on Warren Street near a park in the city. Police responded to the area shortly after 7 p.m. One of the victims, a 34-year-old man, was transported to Salem Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Two female victims — an 18-year-old, a 20-year-old — and a 49-year-old male were transported to a Boston hospital; all three are expected to survive. A dog was also shot during the incident and was critically injured.

No arrests have been made.

The Essex County DA's Office is investigating the incident along with the Massachusetts State Police and Lynn Police.

Police say someone fired into a crowd of more than 100 people, many of whom were children.

On Sunday, the bloodstains on the basketball court where the shooting happened were bleached away by volunteers.

"I want the kids to be able to come back and play ball here," said Tracy Ventura, a Lynn resident. "It's a big deal."

"We care deeply about our city," said City Councilor Fred Hogan. "And it just made everyone feel real low. But what we're doing is we're going to bring everyone back up."

Back up from a night that turned a basketball tournament into a murder scene.

"It shook the whole community," Hogan said. "We're all invested in this area, invested in this city."

In fact, the park itself was the target of a recent, big investment. The new basketball courts were part of a $120,000 renovation project completed this summer.

"And we got everything cleaned up and disinfected," Hogan said. "Everything's back to normal, meaning the whole park's clean."

Police still don't know if the shooting was targeted, but they do know it was reckless and careless. There were perhaps 100 people in the park at the time, and some stray bullets hit nearby houses.

Hector and Abel Jiminez know all about those bullets and the fact that the suspect is still at large. Despite those facts, the brothers haven't been deterred from being out in their community.

"It's not going to stop me from playing basketball," Abel said. "I like basketball, that's why I come out here."

"Like my brother says, we're not going to stop playing basketball," Hector added. "We appreciate that it's a new court, hopefully nothing like this happens again."

Editor's Note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that one person had died during the Lynn shooting. We have corrected the report to accurately reflect that the victim died shortly after the shooting after being transported to a nearby hospital.
