Police chase: Officer injured in pursuit through at least 3 towns

NORWOOD, Mass. — Police tell FOX25 an officer was hurt in an overnight chase after a suspect bumped the officer with his car.

THE CHASE

Officers had been searching for the suspect for six previous warrants when they found him around 2 a.m. on Lenox Avenue in Norwood. Police say they ordered the suspect to get out of the car but he took off, bumping an officer in the process.

The chase went from Norwood down Route 1A into Walpole and then Foxborough.

Police say the suspect eventually crashed into a pole, which is what finally stopped him. The whole chase lasted about 20 minutes.

THE AFTERMATH

The suspect, later identified as 29-year-old Steven Brant of Norwood, was arrested. He and a passenger, 53-year-old Kelly Dutcher, were taken to the hospital for their injuries.

The officer bumped by the suspect's car was taken to the hospital and is being treated for minor injuries. He is expected to be released later Wednesday morning.
