Notorious sex offender Wayne Chapman lists himself at Roxbury address

BOSTON — Wayne Chapman, the notorious sex offender who admitted to molesting up to 100 boys, is now living in a Boston address.

Now at the age of 72, Chapman was released from prison on Aug. 9 after serving a 40-year sentence.

A search of Chapman's name on the sex offender registry website shows he lists 122 Southampton Street as his address.

The nondescript brick building located in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood is a men's homeless shelter. It is also in the area of the city's Methadone Mile, a stretch of the city where homeless people and drug users congregate.

It is also the area where a group of homeless people attacked a Suffolk County sheriff in August. The city has since conducted sweeps of the area, in an attempt to cut down on the violence.

Chapman is one of more than three dozen level two and three sex offenders who list the homeless shelter as their home.

While he has been listed as being homeless since his release, it is unclear if he spent his time between now and then on the streets. Only now has his address been updated to reflect the Southampton Street location.

A total of 672 registered sex offenders live within the city limits of Boston.
