No running water at Norfolk County Jail, plumbers working to fix

DEDHAM, Mass. — A hydrant hit near Norfolk County Jail Friday night has caused the jail to be without running water for 24 hours.

When the hydrant was hit, sediment built up in the jail's water system because they are highest point of the water line and the water pressure was down.

No running water means that inmates have been unable to shower or flush the toilet for about 24 hours, according to people who contacted FOX25.

About 150 inmates were moved to other facilities in Middlesex, Plymouth and Suffolk, and about 200 remain.

Plumbers are working on the water currently, said the sheriff's office. Depending on when the problem can be fixed, they may have to move more inmates.

Once the water is fixed, they will bring the inmates back.
