It's that time of year again for hunters - the New Hampshire moose lottery is open.
Fifty-one permits will be issued for a moose hunt adventure in the fall. There will be a nine-day hunt from Oct. 17 to 29.
The Fish and Game Department said that no permits will be issued for the southwest region of the state and permits will be reduced in the North and White Mountain regions. The department recommends applicants rank all units to maximize their chances of getting a permit.
Applicants can either enter the lottery or accrue "points", which will improve their chances of getting selected a year in the future.
Applications for the lottery cost $15 for residents and $25 for non-residents (nonrefundable) and are available online at huntnh.com or from any Fish and Game license agent.
