N.H. father arrested after leaving toddler in car

ROCHESTER, NH — Rochester, New Hampshire police have arrested a man after he left his 2-year-old son in the car while he shopped at Walmart.

On Saturday, police were alerted of a child locked in a car in the Walmart parking lot. Officers got to the scene and took the crying child out of the car.

Police say 35-year-old Leo Ellis of Rochester had his son for the weekend. He left the boy in the car while he went into the store for about 40 minutes. When he left the store, he was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child.

The child was placed back in the custody of his biological mother, who is not married to Ellis and lives elsewhere.

Ellis was released on bail.
