LONDON — The Danish-born socialite whose high profile trials captivated the nation with a look into the lifestyles of Newport, Rhode Island's rich and famous has died at the age of 92.
Claus Von Bülow was convicted and then acquitted of attempting to murder his wife in the 1980s.
The trials, which involved accusations Von Bülow attempted to kill his wife, Sunny, in order to inherit her fortune and marry his mistress.
His attorney, Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz, penned a bestseller about the ordeal in 1986. It was made into a movie, Reversal of Fortune, starring Jeromy Irons and Glenn Close in 1990.
