New Kids on the Block gush about Fenway concerts, playing their hometown

BOSTON — Boston's own New Kids on the Block will perform just one concert this year and what place more perfect than Fenway Park?

The New Kids announced the show at Fenway on September 19.

And Boston 25 News anchor Kerry Kavanaugh got to go chat with Donnie Wahlberg, Jon Knight, Jordan Knight, and Danny Wood.

Joe McIntyre couldn’t make it.

They talked about the journey these guys have been on.

At this point, they've been performing together longer as a reunion group than they did the first time around.

They told Kavanaugh they were actually surprised by the fan response the second time around but they’re able to enjoy it more this time.

And they say they're still in awe idea of playing Fenway.

"Surreal, proud, it's an amazing, and honored...it never gets old and it's something we don't feel entitled to," Donnie Wahlberg said. "Having grown up in the city, this is the Mecca. And to be invited here again to play and to have such a great response to the concert, it's overwhelming."

And they told Kavanaugh this isn’t even something they dreamed about as kids because when we were growing up, Fenway didn’t host concerts so they say it’s really awesome.

Tickets go on sale for this show on January 31 and they promise some Boston-based special guests.
