JACKSON, N.H. — In what authorities are calling “truly a first” for them, a bodacious boar was found blocking a popular skiing trail Monday afternoon and needed to be wrangled home.
The Jackson Police Department says Petunia the pig got out of her enclosure and was blocking the Windy Hill Trail “without a ski pass.”
Sacrificing part of the animal control officer’s lunch (an apple), the swine was able to be tricked into a tether and led away from skiers.
“When a police officer offers you a treat, and is carrying a leash, it’s not really a treat!” the department wrote in a social media post.
But the hard feelings between Petunia and the officer didn’t last long.
Once the pig was placed back on the homestead, Petunia was given some pig food and lots of scratches as an apology.
All tuckered out from an afternoon on the slopes, the swine went to sleep in her hut.
