NEEDHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The principal of Needham High School resigned just days after an investigation into his "workplace conduct" began.
Dr. Jonathan Pizzi resigned on Saturday. On Wednesday, April 29, the school superintendent placed Pizzi on administrative leave after receiving a complaint "regarding workplace conduct."
No students were involved in the allegations, said Needham superintendent Daniel Gutekanst in a statement.
Pizzi was supposed to be interviewed as part of an internal investigation on Wednesday, May 6, but he resigned via email Saturday morning. Town officials, lawyers and other authorities were involved as a part of the school district's investigation, Gutekanst said.
"This remains a confidential personnel matter and we will not have further immediate factual comment," Gutekanst said. It is unclear if the investigation will continue despite Pizzi's resignation.
While the town searches for a replacement, assistant principal Jonathan Bourn will serve as acting principal. Bourn is set to become Norwood High School's principal on July 1.
