NANTUCKET (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A 22-year-old Nantucket woman is in critical condition at a Boston hospital after her boyfriend violently assaulted her Sunday, police said.
Lorenzo Fain, 28, of 40 Bartlett Road, turned himself in to police Monday morning and was initially ordered held on $50,000 bail; however, following his arraignment Tuesday afternoon, he was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing set for next week, reports The Nantucket Inquirer & Mirror.
Fain is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, threat to commit murder, and four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Lieutenant Angus MacVicar told the Nantucket newspaper that police responded to a home on Tripp Drive Sunday afternoon after receiving a call that a woman had been beaten. The victim, Catherine Tripp, was transported to Nantucket Cottage Hospital and later flown to a Boston-area hospital.
Tripp is an island resident and 2008 graduate of Nantucket High School.
