BOSTON — Police in Massachusetts are investigating numerous bomb threats emailed to businesses across the state.
Massachusetts State Police tweeted about the incidents Thursday afternoon:
"MSP Fusion Center tracking multiple bomb threats emailed to numerous businesses in the state. MSP Bomb Squad notified and local departments are responding in their communities. Similar threats have been received in other states. We will share more info when available.
MSP and partner agencies on federal and local levels are conducting risk assessment procedures regarding the threats and will determine appropriate responses. NO indications of any explosives located or detonated to this point. We will continue to communicate info when available."
The following cities and towns reported receiving emailed bomb threats:
: Boston Police say the Boston Opera House received an email threat that came in at 1:48 p.m. Thursday.
: Braintree Police had two incidents of bomb threats sent via email demanding Bitcoin. Police say neither threat was credible.
: In Burlington, police say businesses in town also received threats. Police did not specify how many businesses were affected.
: Cambridge Police say four businesses in town had threats. All were inspected and deemed not credible.
: Chelmsford received threats that were determined to be not credible.
: In Concord, police are investigating three reports of threats.
: Officials say Dartmouth received threats but did not specify where or how many.
: Framingham's Department of Public Works was also a recipient of the emailed bomb threats. Nothing was found and the all-clear was given.
: Police in Hingham say two businesses in town were evacuated after receiving bomb threats via email. Police determined those threats to be unfounded. They have cleared the scenes and businesses have reopened.
: Four threats came into three commercial locations and one private residence in Lowell. All were deemed unfounded.
: Officials at the Charles River Bank in Medway say they received two emailed threats Thursday afternoon, advising the CEO to send $20,000 in Bitcoin to a specific address by the end of the day. Police investigated and gave the all-clear.
: Officials say Pepperell received threats Thursday but did not specify how many.
: Somerville Police say Assembly Row received a bomb threat around 1:30 p.m. The building was evacuated and police are investigating.
: The Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority received two emailed bomb threats at 1 p.m. Both Nantucket and Mashpee offices were searched and deemed safe.
: Taunton Public Schools says school employees received "emails from multiple senders with various email addresses and varying subject lines." School officials say the senders indicated "harm could come to the building if money was not transferred to them" via Bitcoin. Taunton Police determined the threats unfounded.
: The Watermill Center in Waltham was evacuated after getting threats. These threats were deemed not credible and workers were allowed back inside.
Boston 25 News reached out to FBI Boston for a statement regarding the incidents:
"We are aware of the recent bomb threats made in cities around the country, and we remain in touch with our law enforcement partners to provide assistance. As always, we encourage the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious activities which could represent a threat to public safety."

In addition, the Boston 25 News national team reports that there have been multiple reports of emailed bomb threats to businesses, universities and newspapers across the country.
Police in New York City, among other law enforcement departments, confirm that there have been several threats made across the country, and so far, no credible threats have been found.
Some of the threats have already been determined to be hoaxes, KSL and other media outlets reported.
KCRG in Iowa reported the threats were a spam email that tried to scam receivers out of money.
In other locations, officials continued to investigate, and evacuated businesses out of an abundance of caution.
