MSPCA-Angell searching for owner of Mini-Poodle Mix found tied to tree

MELROSE, Mass. — A six-year-old Mini Poodle-Mix was found tied to a tree inside the Middlesex Fells Reservation in Melrose on May 1.

The dog, now named Sassel, was brought to the MSPCA’s Angell Animal Medical Center by a good Samaritan.

No ID tags or microchips were found on him.

The mandatory seven-day stray hold expires on Friday and he has not been claimed.

Sassel is just one of the many animals that the MSPCA is helping during this time.

Since the COVID-19 crisis began, the MSPCA says they have had seven animals surrendered. Three of those animals were surrendered because their owner died or became too sick to care for them. Four were surrendered due to the financial impacts of the pandemic.

The MSPCA-Angell’s three animal care and adoption centers have placed more than 400 animals into new homes since the pandemic began.

Anyone who believes Sassel may be their dog should contact the MSPCA at 617-522-5055.

Anyone interested in adopting him can email adoption@mspca.org.
