Two students taken to hospital after school transportation van crash in Revere

REVERE, Mass. — Two students were taken to the hospital after a van owned and operated by Northeast Metro Tech was sideswiped in Revere, according to Massachusetts State Police.

A passenger van returning from a vocational work site in Winthrop was hit around 1 p.m. Friday afternoon when another driver, heading in the same direction, drifted into the van's lane on Elliot Circle.

The van suffered minor, repairable damage, according to police, and the two students were evaluated by emergency medical personnel, and their injuries weren't deemed to be life-threatening.

One instructor and a total of 10 students were on the van at the time, with the instructor behind the wheel.

The other driver, 45-year-old Revere native Kerry Grasso, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and a marked lanes violation.
