Missing swimmer located in Walden Pond dies, officials say

CONCORD, Mass. — Officials responded to Walden Pond in Concord for reports of a missing swimmer Sunday.

Lincoln Firefighters tweeted Sunday evening that they assisted with an incident at Walden Pond.

Massachusetts State Police air wing, dive teams and Troopers from the Concord barracks responded. Concord fire officials recovered the adult male from the water. They were then taken to Emerson Hospital.

Hospital officials say the man died.

The victim was swimming in Thoreau's Cove at Walden Pond. The swimmer was located approximately 20 yards from shore.

Additional information on the victim was not available.
