WEYMOUTH, Mass. — The little boy from Weymouth best known as the Mighty Quinn got to drop the puck at Sunday night’s charity hockey game between the police and fire departments.
Quinn Waters is now 3 years old and has been working hard on beating brain cancer, showing incredible strength comes in all shapes and sizes.
Confidently waving to the crowd as he walked onto the ice, Quinn got to drop the puck and start the fourth annual Winter Classic charity hockey game in his honor.

Quinn was rooting for the fire department while his mother, a Quincy police officer, was backing the blue.
“I have to keep the loyalties within the family," said Tara Waters, Quinn’s mother.
Next month, as Quinn celebrates his fourth birthday, he will also celebrate the first anniversary of his diagnosis.

For the better part of the year, his immune system was too compromised for him to leave his house, but that didn’t stop the world from coming to him.
Quinn is still getting stronger but the family still worries every time he leaves the house.
“[It’s] lu season, so we are trying to take as many precautions as we can," said Waters.

There’s still financial need for Quinn’s family as his mother has not been able to return to work since his treatment began, which is why fundraisers like this one are extremely important.
“He’s doing well, he has his next scan on the 30th and that will tell us exactly where he’s at and if we get a clear scan hopefully he will be able to return to school and I will be able to return to work," said Waters.
“This is what it’s about, we always want to give back to the community, we are a part of the community we all live in the community," said Jeff Wall, the Treasurer for Weymouth Firefighters Local 1616.
