BOSTON — Stopped trains will be now be noted on the MBTA’s countdown clocks.
The countdown clocks in subway stations display the estimated time until the next train arrives, but a new function will specifically tell you if one of those trains is stopped.
The functionality will be rolled out on the Red, Orange and blue lines, and at the Mattapan Trolley stops.
Similar messaging will head to the Green Line in the fall, according to the MBTA.
The “Stopped” message won’t be triggered until a train has spent more than two minutes longer than predicted in any given place.
Previously, the countdown displays would simply remain at the estimated time to arrival if a train is stopped.
