BOSTON — The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority says JFK/UMass Station has reopened following an early-morning police investigation.
Few details have been released, but the MBTA initially said Ashmont branch trains would bypass the station because of the activity. But within minutes the entire station was closed for an investigation.

In addition to trains, the MBTA said several bus routes were also impacted by the closure. Shuttle buses were also used to replace Red Line service during the investigation.
The station was reopened just before 6:30 a.m., and normal Red Line service would resume.
However, the MBTA said, residual delays were expected.
No other information was released.
